Did you know? Every dollar raised in Victoria goes back to supporting people in your local community!
2019 Feed Victoria Appeal
This is where it all began. With your support during the past 10 years we have raised more than $5 million and given 330+ grants to more than 280 community food relief charities throughout the state. Your generosity has inspired us to replicate this Appeal in every state and territory across Australia.
Our Feed Melbourne Appeal has achieved a lot over the past 10 years but the demand for food relief continues to grow. According to Foodbank’s 2018 Hunger Report more than four million Australians experienced food insecurity in the past year. Worse still, 22% of people living in rural or remote areas struggle to afford or access healthy food.
The Feed Victoria Appeal builds on the former Feed Melbourne Appeal’s mission to increase the capacity of suburban and regional food relief charities and help them nourish their communities.
Our Feed Victoria Appeal grants will continue to buy things such as fridges, freezers, vans, ovens, cool rooms, storage, kitchen equipment and staple foods to help charities grow their current programs, start new projects and expand their reach in providing food and meals for people going hungry in their community.
The 2019 grants in Victoria have expanded to include:
- Major Projects Grants up to $50 000 for major infrastructure
- Grassroots Grants of up to $25 000 for minor infrastructure and food staple access
- Rural Grants of up to $50 000 for major or minor infrastructure and food staple access for regional and remote communities
The inaugural national 2019 Feed Appeal aims to raise one million dollars which will create more than two million meals for our community.

In 2018 we allocated 40% of the funds we raised to FareShare, Australia’s largest charity kitchen.
FareShare rescues surplus food and cooks it into nutritious, healthy meals, which are distributed to community food banks and meals programs. Money raised in 2018 enabled FareShare to cook an additional 354, 292 meals.
