2021 Grassroots Grants Program
The Feed Appeal Grants program is focussed on supporting local charities to deliver effective and targeted food relief programs to their local community. Funding requests must directly impact, improve, and build the capacity, capability and/or efficiency of your food relief program.
Funding in the Grassroots and Rural Grassroots program is focussed on minor infrastructure, commercial quality kitchen equipment and capacity building training that will help organisations meet the demand and alleviate food insecurity in their community.
Grassroots funding requests of between $5,000-$25,000 are available in this program.
Are you eligible for a Feed Appeal Grant?
When applying for a Grassroots grant, organisations must demonstrate that the funding will do one or more of the following:
- Improve the efficiency and effectiveness of current food relief program
- Build capability and capacity to enable the food relief program to meet the demand for an identified and quantified need in the local community
- Increase the reach of the organisation’s current food relief program geographically
- Improve economic, operational and/or functional efficiencies of food relief program

To provide additional support, Feed Appeal will be hosting two live grant information webinar sessions for all potential applicants. These sessions will cover the grant guidelines, commonly asked questions about completing the application and provide an opportunity for a Q&A session at the conclusion. Applicants only need to register for one session.

To improve communication during the busy grant period Feed Appeal has created the 2021 Grants Facebook group. This group will provide support and prompt responses to questions that arise while applicants are completing the application forms. Feed Appeal will also communicate updates during the grant period. We encourage all applicants to join this group.

Need help with quotes and advice about kitchen equipment?
All kitchen equipment must be commercial grade. To support you Feed Appeal has developed a partnership with Clemtech one of Australia’s national kitchen equipment specialists.

Due to the likely hood that demand for grants will exceed total available funds, there is no guarantee that all eligible organisations that meet the application criteria will be successful. Feed Appeal also reserves the right to part fund applications.
